April Fools

This past weekend, New York based art collective Trustocorp let loose on the city and subversively planted 100 of their uniquely branded products on the shelves of delis, neighborhood bodegas and even big box stores like Kmart. Hopefully the campaign went well confusing consumers citywide. If you're in the city make sure you keep your eyes peeled for more work from this amazing group.

And the Oscar goes to…
The 82nd Annual Academy Awards took place last night, and the Award for Best Short Film (Animated) went to Logorama.
A satirical take on the variety of corporate identities that we encounter everyday. It's action packed, well acted and absolutely hilarious! A well deserved win and huge congratulations to the directors François Alaux, Herve de Crecy and Ludovic Houplain.

Akihabara Majokko Princess

update: looks like the suits have gone ahead and removed this video from the internet :( I'm sure if you search hard enough it will pop up somewhere.
Part of the Tate Modern Museum's Pop-Life exhibition and produced by renowned Japanese Pop-Artist Takashi Murakami, “Akihabara Majokko Princess” is a short film/music video directed by the often panned McG starring Kirsten Dunst dancing through the streets of Akihabara, running amok singing a cover of The Vapors - Turning Japanese.
Given Murukami's previous endeavors in film and the parties involved this collaboration is pretty head-scratching and poses the question whether this is high-art or high-camp. But isn't the purpose of art to force us to question ourselves anyways? Watch the video and judge for yourself.

What I SAW Today
Through his sketches, Fashion Illustrator Richard Haines documents the vital and always changing style of guys in New York. Haines keeps a visual record of his people watching excursions on his blog What I Saw Today. Featuring a balanced variety of scenesters and Average Joes, the loose, gestural style of Haines' drawings provides an interesting perspective on the NYC streetwear scene and is a welcome change to the conventional lookbook formula.3.03.2010
Honda 3R-C

Honda's marketing tagline says “The Power of Dreams” and it seems like the European designers working at Honda's Research and Design facility in Milan are dreaming big. Debuting this week at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the 3R-C Concept is a revolutionary three wheeled battery electric vehicle exploring what a future minimal urban transport vehicle for one person might look like. Powered by a battery electric drivetrain,The 3r-C also features a canopy which transforms from a cover into an enveloping windshield which provides the pilot with significant protection. If this is what the future has in store for us,
I can't wait to go to there!

Virgin Oceanic

Not content with conquering land, air and space, The Virgin Group this week revealed their latest billionaire play toy the Necker Nymph. The hydrobatic sub is controlled by one of three pilots and is capable of gliding on the water’s surface or utilizing downward ‘lift’ on the wings for underwater flight. Dives last up to two hours offering a thrilling underwater experience.
The 3-person aero submarine is the smallest and lightest submersible available today, and was designed specifically for operation from yachts or shore. Part of the Virgin Limited Edition luxury portfolio, the sub is exclusively available to guests of Necker Island or when chartering the luxury 105 foot Necker Belle catamaran.
Built by Hawkes Ocean Technologies the Necker Nymph is a high performance, positively buoyant “open cockpit” submersible configured for safety, comfort and serves to extend the overall capabilities of scuba.
